  • One of our main cooperation partners is the MIT Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, USA. The cooperation includes joint research projects and regular scientific exchange. The Media Lab's partner is the City Science group under the leadership of Kent Larson. "We are developing technology to understand and respond to human activity, environmental conditions, and market dynamics. We are interested in finding optimal combinations of automated systems, just-in-time information for personal control, and interfaces to persuade people to adopt sustainable behaviours.” (MIT CityScience Group) The CityScopes, interactive, digital city models, are an important tool in the everyday research and practice of the City Science group. We continuously develop the CityScopes and their applied technology for our current projects.

  • The City Science Network is an international community of institutions in Andorra, BioBío, Gipuzkoa, Guadalajara, Israel, Shanghai, Taipei, and Toronto and researchers that share the goal of enabling more livable, equitable, and resilient communities. Together we are developing concepts and key technology concepts and key technology that can be extended, deployed, and evaluated by our collaborations in unique contexts around the globe. We propose that transnational problems are best addressed in cities, one community at a time. In our network, we aspire to achieve the following goals for city development: zero commuting, zero energy, maximum creative collisions, maximum equity, and maximum public health combined with a unique combination of density, diversity, access, public amenities, social interaction, equity, and increased creative and entrepreneurial engagement.

  • In Hamburg, we collaborate closely with academia, the public sector, and businesses to enhance and promote sustainability in the city. Our academic partners contribute with intellectual and innovative ideas, our business counterparts bring practical industry knowledge and resources, and our public partners provide insights into urban needs and community engagement.

LGV (Landesbetrieb Geoinformation und Vermessung) is one of our main partners in Hamburg. Moreover, we're integrated into the “Digital Strategy” of the City of Hamburg, which envisions the city as a "living lab for digital urbanisation". Collectively, these collaborations drive smart and sustainable urban innovation and eventually improve the quality of life in Hamburg.

We actively engage with our partners and stakeholders across academia, business, and NGOs. Our goal is to broaden our network by reaching out to leaders in politics, science, and industry from various countries and by actively participating in global conferences. Through these efforts, we initiate dialogues and build lasting cooperations.
